For the Bible tells me so
There are so many Bibles out there for little ones, here’s some of my favourites
The Beginner’s Gospel Story Bible, Jared Kennedy
This story Bible takes young readers (ages 1-5) through the Bible, highlighting how it all points to Jesus. 52 stories, each ending with a thought prompter and a question to help young minds think through how the Gospel truly changes everything. This is currently my favourite bed time Bible.
The Biggest Story ABC, Kevin DeYoung
This is a very clever ABC book, that follows the story of the Bible from beginning to end – literally from A (Adam) to Z (Zion). It’s a board book, so great for little hands to flick through. Short enough that you will find yourself beginning to memorise it, how clever that young people can establish an understanding of the whole arc of Scripture from such a young age. We read this often.
The Biggest Story Bible Storybook, Kevin DeYoung
This is shaping up to be my favourite all rounder story book Bible. This one is aimed at older children (ages 6-12), but we read this at the dinner table every night to try and establish our dinner routine. DeYoung has a way of faithfully communicating Scripture in a way that young minds can grapple with. This series has a whole curriculum that goes alongside it if you are looking for something for kids ministry or for homeschooling. I highly commend it to you.
God’s BIG Promises Bible Story Book, Carl Laferton
This Bible storybook is quite unique, it follows the promises of God throughout Scripture. This one has 92 stories, and you can trace the promises that are made, and kept, through their big colourful icons. The pictures are vibrant and keep small minds interested in what’s going on. We really enjoyed this one for a slightly different take on a storybook Bible.
The Complete Illustrated Children’s Bible, Janice Emmerson
This then is a step up from a Bible storybook, to a bit more of a comprehensive Children’s Bible. It includes 275 Bible stories, in short easy to read formats. Great for reading aloud, or encouraging beginner readers. This is not a complete Bible, but it does cover a lot more ground than your typical storybook Bible; and does not have the commentary throughout that links the stories together. This would be another great option for family devotions or dinner time reading. Recommended for ages 5-8.
